QUESTION
1 :
What do you like best about the Magi
Nation CCG?
|
|
The
artwork, of course, the unique way
it is played, and the overall number
of combos that can happen! I mean,
sheesh! There are so many ways to
use the same cards, it boggles the
mind! That, and because it is VERY
easy to learn, but VERY hard to master.
|
|
QUESTION
2 :
What do you dislike about the Magi
Nation CCG?
|
|
Not a whole lot. Basically, the wording
on the first set of each one is kinda
confusing, and needs clarification,
for others though. I really understand
the way things work and have a problem
with wording every Blue Moon.

|
QUESTION
3 :
Do you find casual play or organized
competition to be more fun? Why?
|
|
I find organized competition to be
more fun. First, because it is SO
much rarer for an opponent to quit
the match when I'm playing them in
a tourney than on a side match during
the break. Also, it keeps people in
line for the Tournament Directors
to be able to organize and control
the masses of duelists with the dreaded
word "DISQUALIFIED!!!" But,
aside from that, the Animite is a
big winner in my book.
|
|
QUESTION
4 :
Where do you usually play?
|
|
Sarges Comics, Sundays.
|
|
QUESTION
5 :
How often do you participate in organized
tournaments?
|
|
Once a week.
|
|
QUESTION
6 :
What was you most thrilling victory?
|
|
I would have to say in my Dark Twins
deck. My Twins played, right off the
bat, 2 Entombs and got Thunderquake
(which I use) and Shockwave off my
back.
However, a well placed Yarothis took
out my Gorath and a Warrior Boots'd
Ayebaw took out my 2 other creatures,
and leaving me down my Dark Twins
on my second turn. I flipped over
my Yaki and used him to tear through
Nimbulo and Aula. When I used Secrets
of the Book, I almost gasped and died
(this is on Aula). 2 Warriors Boots
and 2 Ayebaw. All I had was a Wudge
in play, but I drew a total of 4 cards.
I got two very useful cards. I played
a Warriors Boots, then a Rayje's Belt
and Locked Down Warpath. Then, he
put his turn through, leaving my Yaki
at a tactical disadvantage. But, I
played a Rayje's Cloak for Double
Striking purposes and I used *my"
stolen Night Hyren to smack up his
Magi for a Bonus 4, then I finished
off his 4 energy what-not for free.
I used the Book again, and saw something
bad. He had 3 cards left in his deck,
and 2 Shockwaves in his hand... I
had one choice, I spent all but 1
Energy to play the Corrupt I had just
drawn and ended my turn. He either
had to give me an Orish or an Orathan
Flyer, he decided on the Orish. He
zapped it with lightning, and finished
his turn. I crossed my fingers and
I played the Secrets of The Book.
I was done for, he had enough energy
and stuff (Ah*Mantle of Shadows*em)
to ruin me.
I played Vaporize and trashed the
Mantle. But, he had a card in his
hand that was just as bad, another
Mantle. I had to win, and do it during
the turn. I Warrior Boots'd in a Wudge.
Then, I smacked all his creatures
and Magi up expending all of his Magi's
energy and all but 1 on 2 of his creatures.
I thought I was done for, but then
I saw the beacon of light and hope.
Thunderquake... But playing it would
cause a Sudden Death, I just couldn't
risk it... Last match, both of us
undefeated, this was the last match.
Then, I saw my saving card, the Robe
of Ages, I played it and ThunderQuaked
his 2 creatures making X=2 but paying
1.
That, was my best win!

QUESTION
7 :
What was your most crushing defeat?
|
|
My most crushing defeat was in a match
against my toughest competition, Jason.
It was before the Dark Twins came
out, and we were both using Core.
We had fought the good fight and whittled
each other down to nearly nothing,
except each others last Magi. I had
Zet and he had Zet, but I played a
Korg, so we both got the benefit.
We had changed creatures, oh, about
30 or 40 times in that match, what
with the continuous Enslavings, Turns,
Treacherys, Thefts, etc. So, we came
down to the wire, and I misplayed
my hand and played the wrong card,
leaving me at a 1 energy disadvantage.
I thought I had it, but due to the
fact that he had stolen my, his, someones
Gorath the turn before, (and I had
forgotten) I played the wrong card.
He Treachery'ed my Grubble and smacked
up my Magi for the last 6 Energy giving
him the win, all in all, a good match...
a VERY good match!

QUESTION
8 :
Who is your toughest competition?
Why?
|
|
My toughest competition is my friend
and #10 or so globally, Jason Kimball.
We both run variant Core deck (or
he goes Naroom and I go "full
out annoying" Burrow) and we
duke it out for 45 minutes in total.
Our decks are very well built, and
it basically comes down to who draws
what when, and how bad the other one
of us screws up our play.
|
|
QUESTION
9 :
What is your favorite region? Why?
|
|
The Core, and possibly d'Resh (If
it is as good as it looks, excluding
Korremar). Anyway, I think its because
that Core centers around being annoying,
and I just love to do that, also because
its just so darn fun! And they have
double Magi! Whooo!
|
|
QUESTION
10 :
Who is your favorite Magi? Why?
|
|
My favorite Magi (Plural) would have
to be The Dark Twins. I love em! I
just finished, in fact, creating a
treacherous deck the likes of the
world has not yet seen. It is a Naroom/Core
Swarm deck. It is so very well constructed
(Shameless Self Promotion) that it
makes the old school swarm decks look
like Direct Damage. It takes Swarm
to a whole new level.
|
|
QUESTION
11 :
What kind of deck to you dread having
to play against?
|
|
Basically, I hate, and I mean HATE
having to play Discard decks. All
the Um....NO!s and Entombs in the
world don't help me it seems. I would
personally LOVE to see II make the
card, "Ummm...Discard Your Hand"
because I don't like it because you
have a Mantle of Shadows out, two
Entombs in your hand and your opponant
has 3 Tidal Wave and Undertow and
enough energy to play it all to ruin
my tiny army of annoying things! Or
something like that, basically, I
HATE OROTHE AND ARDERIAL!!! I Like
Core!

|
QUESTION
12 :
What does it mean to you to be ranked
as one of the best Magi-Nation TCG
players in the world?
|
|
It means a lot to me. And to be able
to show my mom that spending 50 dollars
every two months on cards will bring
me recognition and social status.
So there! That and the ability to
say to almost every other duelist
(kindheartedly of course) "I'm
better than you are!" (just kidding).
|
|
QUESTION
13 :
Do you play the Magi-Nation video
game?
|
|
Play it! I love it! It is the Best
RPG game I've played for GB to date
(excluding the Zeldas) and it is just
a darned good way to pass the time
on my 45 minute bus ride from here
to school. That, and I never get tired
of all the dumb things that Korg does!
|
|
QUESTION
14 :
Do you have a favorite character card?
Favorite video game character?
|
|
Favorite Character card, I would have
to say, Gorath. It is just so much
fun! I steal this, this is mine, and...
Oh look, you can give me your energy,
and here is a Shadow Bones, oh and
look... (I'll stop now).
My favorite Video Game Character would
have to be Zet. And I think it would
be just darn funny if, when Warrada
goes "The shadow sees all."
Tony says "Shadows don't have
eyes." and Warrada smacks him
and says "Never question the
shadow."

QUESTION
15 :
Anything else you would like to add
to this interview?
|
|
I'd like to talk about my favorite
combo. It was against my opposition
in my favorite victory. He had a 24
energy Cyclone Vashp and I had 2 Grubbles.
I used Anarchy and got the Vashp and
he got the Grubble. I trashed both
the Grubbles, got a Gorath, and took
away his Magi's last 4 Energy with
his own Vashp!
Yeeeeaaahhhhhh!
